Families Are a Treasure

Yo-Yo Ma's father, Hiao-Tsiun Ma, is quoted as saying: It takes three generations to make a musician: the first to leave poverty, the second to go to school, and the third to master an instrument. (Link: PBS, Faces of America) Yo-Yo Ma's generational family shared their treasure with him and he, in turn, is sharing his treasure with the world. Generational families can build wealth, provide learning opportunities, and inspire self-mastery.

Your father and mother gave and sustained your life. Your generational family gave you an ancestral name and historical identity. Your physical characteristics are inherited through your nourishing genealogy tree. Who you are, is in part, a result of who they were.

it's not about numbers, or wealth, or fame. The great treasures of a generational family are the lessons learned from life and the inherited wisdom of past ages. And as the Apostle Paul said, the greatest treasures are: "faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity." ~ 1 Corinthians 13:13. Pass it on!
